HH Ackee and Broad Beans

For Vegetarians!

Try our take on how to enjoy Ackee without saltfish. Just substitute the fish for broad beans. We promise you'll love it, even if you're not vegetarian. Include all your traditional seasonings, plus that essential love in your heart to make this dish one to remember.


Serves 2-4 people

1 can 540g/19oz Hanover House Ackee (drained)

1 can 300g/10oz Broad Beans (drained)

½ cup chopped onions

½ cup chopped bell pepper

½ cup chopped escallions

½ cup diced tomatoes

1 tbs cooking oil

1 small piece finely chopped scotch bonnet pepper

2 sprigs thyme

Salt & black pepper to taste


Heat pan/skillet and pour in oil

Add all chopped seasoning and broad beans and toss for 2 minutes

Add ackee and gently incorporate with the other ingredients for 1 minute

Add salt & black pepper to taste

Serve and enjoy
